Campaign Planning

Break the Sound Barrier

As you are building your coalition of students, faculty and staff, leverage that support to be as visible as possible. Increasing your visibility through events and the media helps spread the word about the campaign and show decision makers that there is large support for your campaign.

Campus and community events are a great way to generate visibility for your campaign and involve volunteers. Popular on campus events include a Clean Car Show on the quad, cover the quad with renewable energy, Greek Green Challenge, Green Building Tours, solar powered events (like smoothies, hot chocolate or concerts), or Waste Audits.

Key to breaking the sound barrier on your campaign is nailing working with media. Check out the media section of the Student PIRGs Activist Toolkit to learn how to build relationships with the media, organize news conferences and write media materials.
